Expanding Rural Healthcare Access
Texas’s 17th district is home to vibrant rural communities, but too many neighbors face long drives to the nearest clinic or hospital. As your representative, J. Gordon Mitchell will:
- Expand telehealth services by securing federal grants for broadband infrastructure and supporting providers who offer virtual care.
- Reopen and support rural hospitals through targeted rural health funding and Medicaid expansion, which will keep hospitals open and fully staffed.
- Increase mental health services by funding crisis intervention teams and school-based counselors.
- Support mobile health clinics to reach isolated communities and provide preventative care.
